The Cahors wines are famous throughout the world. Autoire, Loubressac, Saint-Cirque-Lapopie and Carennac are on the list of the most beautiful villages in France. But there's also Gourdon and Figeac which houses the Champollion museum with its massive copy of the Rosetta stone, named after this native of the Lot who deciphered the hieroglyphics and was one of the founders of modern egyptology. And of course Rocamadour which is the second most-visited site in France after the Mont Saint-Michel. In our selection of convivial Bed and Breakfasts, visit the Causses du Quercy Regional Park, helping to preserve the natural heritage. European flora and fauna is on view in the animal park in Gramat. And the famous black triangle in the quercy with its clear night sky free of all light pollution is a marvellous obsevation point.
