Puy-en-Velay, capital of the Haute-Loire in the Auvergne, is built on an old volcano, with the evolution of the town adapting to the geology of its situation. The cathedral of Notre-Dame du Puy, was, from the 11th to the 16th century one of the most important sites of pilgrimage to the Vigin Mary with the mysterious Black Virgin overlooking the town. The town also enjoys a rich events calendar: Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, les Musicales, Festival du Folklore, les Fêtes du Roi de l’Oiseau etc. Check out our selection of Bed and Breakfasts in and around Puy-en-Velay!
